Ingredients Needed
- Creamy Peanut Butter– I use either Jif or Skippy. I don’t recommend using an all-natural peanut butter for this recipe.
- Cream Cheese– use full-fat for best flavor and be sure to fully soften it.
- Powdered Sugar
- Heavy Cream– use cold heavy cream.
- Cream of Tartar– helps stabilize the heavy cream.
- Pie Crust– use either a store-bought or homemade pie crust.
- Cool Whip and Chopped Peanuts – optional for garnish.

How To Make Old-Fashioned Peanut Butter Pie
- Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar together in a large bowl. Use either a hand-held electric mixer or a stand mixer.
- In a separate bowl with clean beaters beat the heavy cream and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold whipped cream mixture into peanut butter mixture
- Transfer filling to pie crust. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Make Ahead and Storage
You will want to make this pie at least 2 hours in advance so it has time to chill and set up. Once made it can be kept in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.
Recipe Suggestions
- Instead of using a homemade or refrigerated pie crust, you can use a graham cracker crust or an oreo pie crust.
- You can sub 3 cups of Cool Whip for the heavy cream and cream of tartar.

Notes
You will need a pre-baked pie crust. You can use a frozen, refrigerated, or homemade pie crust. If using frozen or refrigerated, follow package directions for baking. If using homemade, blind-bake for 15 to 18 minutes in a 375 degree oven. An oreo or graham cracker crust can be used instead.
