Honey Pecan Pork Chop Recipe

Pork chops are one of my favorite things to cook for dinner and I love a good roast pork chop recipe. These pork chops with a honey pecan glaze are a delicious alternative to plain pork chops just like these Brown Sugar Garlic Pork Chopsand Garlic Parmesan Stuffed Pork Chops. They are sweet savory, and a little spicy. Easy enough for weeknights, but impressive enough to serve to guests. Perfect over rice, mashed potatoes, or grits.

These Honey Pecan Pork Chops are sweet without being too sweet and I love the wonderful buttery crunch of the pecans.

Whenever I make these pork chops, I’m reminded that I don’t cook pork chops nearly enough. Scroll down for some more pork chop favorites.

Type Of Pork Chops To Use

I use boneless pork chops for this recipe. They tend to be very lean. Look for pork chops that have some fat marbling. The fat will keep them juicier and more flavorful. I prefer thicker cut pork chops. Thin pork chops are hard not to overcook and dry out.

Can I Use Bone-In Pork Chops?

Yes, if you prefer you can use bone-in pork chops. You will need to cook them slightly longer.

Why Are My Pork Chops Dry and Tough?

Overcooking pork can make it dry and tough. Be sure not to overcook the chops. It helps to use an instant-read thermometer. Pork is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Try using boneless chicken breasts in place of pork chops or try this Honey Pecan Chicken recipe.
  • Double the amount of cayenne pepper to make it spicier or use Hot Honey.
  • Bourbon Pecan Pork Chops- Add a tablespoon of bourbon to the glaze.
  • Pecan Peach Pork Chops- Add 1/3 cup of peach preserves to the glaze and cut the honey in half.

How To Serve

You could serve these Honey Pecan Pork Chops over rice or mashed potatoes to soak up the extra glaze and a side of green beans would be perfect. I also like to serve them with Creamy Mac and Cheese and Buttermilk Cornbread.

Heat butter and oil in a large nonstick pan oven medium-high heat.

Add pork chops to pan and cook 3 to 4 minutes per side. Remove from pan and keep warm. (I like to place them in a 200 degree oven.)

  4. 4

Add remaining ingredients to pan. Simmer 2 minutes.

  5. 5

Add pork chops back to pan and coat with sauce. Serve.

Notes

Be careful not to overcook the pork or it will be dry and tough. Pork is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees. I recommend using an instant-read thermometer. If you have really thick pork chops, they may take longer than 4 minutes per side to cook. You can pop them in a 375 degree oven for 5 to 10 minutes to finish them.
